In March we took our most recent of many trips to the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. Beaches, mangroves and tropical dry forests on the peninsula, and waterfalls, rivers and hot springs in Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Howler monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, sea turtles, and tropical birds everywhere. Wasn’t surprised to see Costa Rica ranked 6th in the 2025 World Happiness Report. The positive vibes, beauty and “pura vida” spirit keeps drawing us back.
Catching up on photos from the fall. Cody and I did a solo trip to the Adirondacks in October. On two occasions I was pulled aside by older gentlemen who expressed how much they enjoyed watching us and lamented not finding more time for father-son trips when their sons were younger.
Rainy walk in Rhode Island.
Side trip to Orlando with friends in March.
Every so often a shot will capture the essence of our family in ways that only become apparent to me later. Claire, as usual, has underdressed for the hike and borrowed my coat. Cody delights in having once again exploited his wearied mother’s affection for a back-breaking piggyback ride. And a playfully resentful Calvin lurks behind, mischievously tugging away at his brother’s ankle. I suspect we’ll see the same dynamics ten years from now. Capturing moments like this reminds me why I take photographs.
Walk to Highcliffe Beach. Isle of Wight to the distance across the English Channel.
After London we took a train south to explore the New Forest and the Hampshire countryside. It rained almost nonstop but we had some nice walks in the dry intervals.
Three days in London over Spring Break.
Daffodil Festival weekend last year. Slowly getting there.
Still working through old photos. Christmas 2020.
Cody on the beach last fall.
Racing the waves after a storm in late August.
